David W. Harvey FBA (born 31 October 1935) is a British-American academic best known for Marxist analyses that focus on urban geography, but that also extend to the economy more broadly. He is Distinguished Professor of anthropology and geography at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York ( CUNY ).
David Harvey (31 de octubre de 1935) geógrafo y sociólogo británico, uno de los pensadores sociales más importantes de nuestro tiempo. Crítico del capitalismo, realizó estudios en el St Johns College de la Universidad de Cambridge.
El escrito se encuentra dividido en dos partes: “El derecho a la ciudad” y “Ciudades rebeldes”, además del prefacio que abre la obra, el cual se titula “La Icaria de Henri Lefebvre”. Aquí trata el tema que Lefebvre abordó en su influyente ensayo Le droit à la ville, de 1967.
