I think that Gruber is the best bass player of Rainbow until the appearance of Roger Glover in 1979 ..and you know his influence on the Black Sabbath album Haven and Hell”.

17 de may. de 2024 · Após sair do Deep Purple, Blackmore recrutou o vocalista Ronnie James Dio, o tecladista Micky Lee Soule, o baixista Craig Gruber e o baterista Gary Driscoll, todos que anteriormente eram membros do ELF. Ou seja, o primeiro line-up do Rainbow era o ELF sem o guitarrista David Feinstein com Blackmore em seu lugar.
