Abū Yūsuf Ya´qūb ibn Isḥāq al-Kindī (en árabe: أبو يوسف يعقوب بن إسحاق الكندي ) ( Kufa, actual Irak, 801 - Bagdad, 873) fue un matemático, polimata, filósofo y astrólogo árabe musulmán.
Al-Kindi was the first of the Islamic peripatetic philosophers, and is hailed as the "father of Arab philosophy". Al-Kindi was born in Kufa and educated in Baghdad.

al-Kindī (died c. 870) was the first outstanding Islamic philosopher, known as “the philosopher of the Arabs.” Al-Kindī was born of noble Arabic descent and flourished in Iraq under the Abbasid caliphs al-Maʾmūn (813–833) and al-Muʿtaṣim (833–842).
