Hace 4 días · After earning his diploma, Levon Helm headed north to join The Hawks — a nucleus of musicians who also included Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson and Richard Manuel. If those names sound familiar, it’s because the Hawks would eventually team up with Bob Dylan, and later become better known as The Band.
20 de may. de 2024 · He was laid to rest next to The Band’s bassist, Rick Danko, who died in 1999. Part of Route 375 in Ulster County has since been designated by the governor as Levon Helm Memorial Boulevard. In his final years, despite being diagnosed with throat cancer, Helm never lost heart.
