Hace 6 días · The album was released on September 24, 1980 and so far everything was great, because the pieces are really beautiful as parodies, sometimes even almost better than the originals. Even the title of the album itself, “Deface the music” is quite controversial, although probably inspired by ELO’s Face the Music too.
Hace 3 días · In 1980, Utopia recorded a Beatles parody album in the form of Deface the Music. It included "Everybody Else Is Wrong", another song perceived to have been aimed at Lennon. Later that year, Lennon was killed by Mark David Chapman, an obsessive Rundgren fan who was incensed by Lennon's remarks on religion.
9 de may. de 2024 · It is worth noting that “I Just Want to Touch You” is part of Utopia’s album “Deface The Music” released in 1980. The album itself is a Beatles parody, with a deliberate Beatlesque sound reminiscent of the Rutles, a band created by Eric Idle of The Monty Python.
