Interestingly, her future White Christmas co-star Rosemary Clooney also raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Vera-Ellen’s father, Martin F. Rohe, was a humble piano dealer and her mother, Alma C. Westmeier, was a homemaker.

Harry Hessler and his wife operated the dancing school until sometime in the 1940s. The historic building is a residential home today.
Vera-Ellen (February 16, 1921 – August 30, 1981) was an American actress and dancer. She danced with Fred Astaire, Danny Kaye, Gene Kelly and several others. She played Princess Maria in the movie Call Me Madam. She also played Judy Haynes in the movie White Christmas.
