Synopsis. Teddy has lost his family in an apartment fire years before. McPherson (Ted Levine) is the deputy warden.

And that's what the movie is about: atmosphere, ominous portents, the erosion of Teddy's confidence and even his identity. It's all done with flawless directorial command. Scorsese has fear to evoke, and he does it with many notes. You may read reviews of "Shutter Island ...
19 de feb. de 2010 · Shutter Island holds up. 10 years after its release, I still find new intricate details in almost every frame of the film. It's hard to make a mystery/thriller movie that is so engaging, and remains engaging even after you watch the movie once and know the twist. The musical score to this film is absolutely haunting. Shutter Island is gruesome.
Shutter Island would have been a good movie if it hadn't ripped off The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari so blatantly. Lehane obviously knew that the old movie was in the public domain but instead of telling the viewers that it was based on that movie, they just pass it off as his (and/or Scorseesi's idea). That, my friends, is the definition of plagiarism.
