This ranking is my opinion and mine alone, but it is informed by extensive conversations I’ve had with Snider, including discussions about every single track on every one of these albums.

19 de ene. de 2018 · 6) Oranges & Lemons (Virgin Records, 1989) Oranges & Lemons ’ highpoint – the majestic Mayor Of Simpleton – is arguably not only one of XTC’s finest moments, but one of the best songs ever written. Bestowed with more hooks than an angler’s kit box, the band struggle to scale the heights they reach here elsewhere on the album.
Grand Funk Railroad had become a hit-making machine in 1974. Their next release would produce two more big hits. The album All the Girls in the World Beware!!! was released at the end of 1974. It would keep the band at the top of the pop charts with the smash singles “Some Kind Of Wonderful” and “Bad Time.”.

Standing On The Edge (Epic, 1985) In a decade when Cheap Trick allowed their usually high standards to drop alarmingly, 1985’s Standing On The Edge was a rare exception. Moreover, it’s good enough to stand up against much of their 70s records.
Todd Rundgren’s Utopia. Released 1974. Todd Rundgren’s Utopia marked the debut of Utopia as a band, an extension of Todd Rundgren’s solo work. This progressive rock album is renowned for its ambitious and complex compositions. It serves as an excellent example of 70s progressive rock that was influenced by technology and featured extensive musicianship.
