Sweet Thursday were a short-lived "super-group" comprised of notable British session men. Formed in 1968, they went on to record one self-titled release which was met with limited success. Their epic 10 minute track, "Gilbert Street," became a turntable hit on American FM radio.

It included famed session keyboards player Nicky Hopkins, folk guitarist Alun Davies (subsequently a frequent collaborator of Cat Stevens') and composer Jon Mark (later of Mark-Almond). Other members were Harvey Burns and Brian Odgers.
