13 de sept. de 2019 · The Outbreaker Backpack is made from VX21 waterproof sailcloth, which is a combination of 210D Nylon with DWR and UV resistant coating, polyester, and PET film (phew, that was a mouthful). Basically, all that means is, these materials come together to create a highly water-resistant and durable pack that’s built to last.

4 de abr. de 2024 · This bag comes in 35L and 45L, and while it packs a lot, is not ideal for someone who travels with a 60L+. You want a classic backpacker-style backpack. The Tortuga Outbreaker has a different build and is more of a modern look. You want a bag that has wheels or rolling capacity. Check out the Osprey Sojourn instead.

The ideal size for travel backpacks is 30-45 liters in volume. At the low-end, 30L will be enough for weekend trips or for a minimalist traveler. At the higher end, international carry on limits are around 39L and US limits are 45L. US airlines limit travel packs to 22 x 14 x 9".
Last month, I replaced my well-travelled 35L Outbreaker with the new 40L V4, and am traveling with the new item now. The 35L remains like new after a couple years of backpacking and travel in planes, cars, trains, busses, boats, etc. But I wanted the extra 5L and the 1” flatter build to optimize the fit into international overhead bins.

This 27L pack, which Tortuga advertises as the “ideal under-the-seat backpack for a frequent traveler” has a lot of similarities to Tortuga’s other travel bags—and we mean that in a good way as Tortuga gear frequently impresses us.
