5 de oct. de 2002 · Kaifi Azmi was a rare poet who practiced what he preached. For the last twenty years of his life Kaifi Azmi lived in Mijwan, the tiny village in Uttar Pradesh he was born in. In a span of 20 years he transformed Mijwan from a village in oblivion to a model village. He set up an NGO Mijwan Welfare Society that runs :
Kaifi Azmi. Music Department: Garm Hava. Kaifi Azmi was born on 14 January 1919 in Mizwaan, United Provinces, British India. He was a writer and actor, known for Garm Hava (1974), Shama (1961) and The Fog (1964). He was married to Shaukat Azmi. He died on 10 May 2002 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Kaifi Azmi was a rare poet who practiced what he preached. A brain hemorrhage on 8th February 1973 paralysed him and rendered his left hand and left leg incapacitated for life. Instead of giving up in despair he decided to leave the comforts of Bombay and settle in Mijwan the tiny village in Azamgarh Eastern UP in which he was born.
