His father, Alfred Perceval Graves, was a Gaelic scholar and minor Irish poet. His mother, Amalie von Ranke Graves, was a relation of Leopold von Ranke, one of the founding fathers of modern historical studies.

Robert Graves Robert von Ranke Graves Poeta y novelista inglés Nació el 24 de julio de 1895 en Wimbledon. Su primer libro de poesía, fue Hadas y fusileros (1917), donde narra sus experiencias en la I Guerra Mundial.
