17 de ago. de 2021 · Robert John Russell. With his death at 90 in March, the interdisciplinary field of theology and science has lost one of its most distinguished pioneers, John C. Polkinghorne. His luminary career in physics began when John entered Trinity College in 1949 where he specialized in quantum mechanics and was lectured by Paul Dirac.
10 de mar. de 2005 · John Polkinghorne was a mathematical physicist and Anglican priest whose treatment of theology as a natural science invigorated the search for an interface between science and religion. Polkinghorne resigned his position as Professor of Mathematical Physics at the University of Cambridge in 1979 to pursue theological studies, becoming a priest in 1982.

A Fellow of the Royal Society, Polkinghorne was Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Univ ersity of Cambridge until 1979 and ordained as an Anglican priest in 1982.

Polkinghorne 2002 Laureate of Templeton Prize accepting award from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh with John Templeton Jr. at palace He received the Templeton Prize in 2002 in recognition of his modern and compelling treatment of theology as a complement to natural science, which when viewed together offer what he called a “binocular” vision of the truth.
