  7. Roger Blench Idu is a putative language isolate spoken in Northeastern Arunachal Pradesh in the flanks of the Himalayas. As a consequence of living in highly dissected terrain, the Idu have developed a highly nuanced set of directionals, indicating both up and down the mountainside, the different levels of villages and orientation is respect of the many rivers that flow through their territory.
