Memphis Slim (Memphis, 3 september 1915 - Parijs, 24 februari 1988) was een blues- en boogiewoogie pianist en -zanger. Hij werd geboren als John Len Chatman (niet als Peter Chatman, zoals hij zelf beweerde) in Memphis (Tennessee) en leerde zichzelf al op 7-jarige leeftijd piano spelen.
In 1959-60, Memphis Slim and Willie Dixon took part in the Folk-Blues Revival, notably in the trendy clubs of New York (in particular in the district of Greenwich Town). Here, the two men are on the Village Gate's stage and play good versions of "Slop boogie", "Misery falls like pain", "We are going to rock".
