The Loved Ones were an Australian rock band formed in 1965 in Melbourne following the British Invasion. The line-up of Gavin Anderson on drums, Ian Clyne on organ and piano, Gerry Humphrys on vocals and harmonica, Rob Lovett on guitar and Kim Lynch on bass guitar recorded their early hits.

The Loved Ones è il primo lungometraggio del regista Sean Byrne.. Era stato inizialmente classificato come film vietato ai minori di 18 anni dalla critica australiana, ma è stato successivamente portato ad un vietato ai minori di 16 anni, grazie ad alcune scene da commedia romantica che attenuano le scene più sadiche e violente.
The film begins with Brent ( Xavier Samuel) driving with his father along an old country road. Brent turns his attention away from the windshield for a split-second, and when he turns back, sees a bloodied man in the middle of the road! Swerving to avoid hitting the man, Brent's vehicle collides with a tree, injuring him, but killing his father.
