SS-Obersturmführer Franz Hössler was born on 4 February 1906 in Oberdorf, in the Schwabenland of the German Empire. He was the son of a foreman and he quit school early to become a photographer. Later he was employed as a warehouse worker, but was unemployed during the Great Depression of the 1930’s.
