Leben. Edie McClurg wuchs in Missouri auf und wollte zunächst Lehrerin werden. Sie absolvierte ihr Studium an der University of Missouri–Kansas City, an der sie in der Folgezeit acht Jahre als Dozentin Radioarbeit unterrichtete.
