Porgy y Bess. George Gershwin (Nueva York 1898 - Allenweiler, Alsacia, 1937) tardo casi 9 años desde que en 1926 decidió componer esta ópera, hasta 1935 en que fue estrenada. Por el camino debió de sortear mil y un obstáculos de todo tipo no siendo los menores los de carácter racial.

In order to catch the authenticity of the music of “Porgy & Bess”, Gershwin spent some time in the south, but composed all the pieces himself.
