Double Hipness is a confusion of delights. Twenty-five rare and unreleased tracks which neatly fill in most of the gaps on the Associates' mercurial, tempestuous career. There are tracks from MacKenzie and Rankine's late 1970's cabaret roots, and early demos which owed a fair amount to both Station To Station -era Bowie and the collected poise of The Sparks.
A collection of previously unreleased demos, dating from 1979-1993. The Associates re-recorded and released many of the songs on this compilation with different titles (e.g. I Never Will is a demo of Party Fears Two with different lyrics). CD2 tracks 5-10 are demos from the aborted 1993 reunion of Billy MacKenzie and Alan Rankine.
