Shoes’ videos—“Too Late” and “Tomorrow Night” in particular—were prominently featured on early MTV.
Continuing the reissue program, Present Tense and Tongue Twister were joined on a single CD, while the entire Shoes on Ice was appended to Boomerang. Stolen Wishes , Shoes’ first new album in five years (and the inspiration for an unprecedented bi-coastal tour in mid-’90), has all the band’s hallmarks plus keyboards, including synthesizer dressing on several of the enormously catchy tunes.

The entirety of Shoes' first two Elektra albums (1979's Present Tense and 1981's Tongue Twister) on one disc makes for one of the most highly recommended power pop CDs of all time!

12 de nov. de 2009 · Present Tense is a power pop charmer from back in the heyday of New Wave and probably their best album (although you could make a case for 1977's Black Vinyl Shoes). Tongue Twister is a later and lesser effort of more interest to hard-core fans. Apparently, the only way to get a copy of Present Tense now is on this twofer.
