Modern Music Sound Service was founded in 1981 by Hal Wagenet. The recording studio was the first one in Mendocino County. Over the next decade, he produced and played on about 30 albums, and countless demos. During that time, demand grew steadily for garden weddings and Modern Music became known as the premier PA company in three counties.
A guy named Hal Wagenet played some pretty decent guitar for them in their hippy days – he’s joined the establishment today and is involved in local politics in northern California. The rhythm section were kind of forgettable – bassist Mitchell Holman still performs along the west coast of the U.S., and drummer Val Fuentes has played in a number of moderately successful other bands.

Beautiful Day recorded several albums with CBS records including the cult classic featuring the song “White Bird”. 1971 Mitchell left Beautiful Day with itʼs guitarist Hal Wagenet to form “Natural Act” that toured till 1976. and recorded one album for Half Moon Bay Records.
