The group's emphasis on chops and improvisation led them to be associated with the jam band scene; they joined the H.O.R.D.E. tour and collaborated with Béla Fleck and Blues Traveler's John Popper. The band released three albums: two concert recordings (issued in 1992 and 2007, respectively) and 1993's Mirrors of Embarrassment.

Béla was born on July 10,1958 and raised in New York City. While watching The Beverly Hillbillies as a young boy, the bluegrass sounds of Flatt & Scruggs flowed out of the TV set and into his young brain. Earl Scruggs’s banjo style hooked Béla’s interest immediately. “It was like sparks going off in my head,” he later said.
Over the past half-century, Béla Fleck has exploded the parameters of the banjo, taking his staggering musicality to inspired blends of bluegrass, fusion, folk, jazz, classical, global music and more. In the process he’s won 18 Grammy Awards and rightfully earned a reputation as one of our most brilliant instrumentalists.
