Among the year’s signal albums were ELP’s Tarkus, Pink Floyd ’s Meddle, Hawkwind ’s In Search Of Space and Genesis ’s Nursery Cryme, not to mention a brace from Yes. I’ve always viewed the lyrics of Thick as a Brick (TAAB) to be a series of vignettes which swirl about a central theme. It would seem to me that Gerald Bostock was invented for the album cover, i.e. after the lyrics and music were written and, hence, Bostock did not affect the perspective of the original lyrics themselves.
