Two years after the show's finale, he made his major-label recording debut with the country-tinged 2017 EP Tree House Tapes. Under the band mononym Overstreet, he introduced a brasher, more anthemic pop sound with the song "Wasted Time" in April 2018. A solo Chord Overstreet eventually re-emerged with the track "What You Need" in 2020.
