Esimene Rock Summer kandis alapealkirja "Glasnost 88" ning selle hind külastajatele oli ~ 5 rubla. Hinnanguliselt käis seal kolme päeva peale kokku 150 000 külastajat. 1997. aastal läks Makarov Muusik Management pankrotti ning seega jäi selle aasta Rock Summer viimaseks.
