Review by Stephen M ★★½ 4. Low budget, bad acting and script, cheesy score. But not without its moments of fleeting fascination and gets close to the "so bad its good" criteria. You do get Joe Dallesandro as a monosyallabic evil gardener - shirtless and wearing the same skintight lowslung slacks the entire film.
Dallesandro’s other film appearances included the Warhol productions FLESH (1968), TRASH (1970), HEAT (1972), FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN and BLOOD FOR DRACULA (both 1974). All those films were directed by Paul Morrissey, who encouraged his protégé to take the role in THE GARDENER, which according to Dallesandro marked “the first time I was on a set that didn’t involve a bunch of freaks.”

The Gardener is a more accurate title than the other two. It's one of those 1970's "horror movies" that is not horrific at all. It's about a gardener that has a special way with plants, and can make them do strange and wonderful things - including kill people. 2. Don't get excited about the "killing people" part.
