The Defense Information School trains and educates communication professionals for service in the Department of Defense and with its partners. Our Vision DINFOS is the Department of Defense’s educational institution dedicated to training agile military communicators and leaders who will compete and win in today’s complex and demanding information environment.
On Feb. 21, 1964, the Department of Defense issued a charter for the Defense Information School. In September 1965, DINFOS was moved to Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind. From 1964 to 1973, the Army exercised administrative control of the school through the deputy chief of staff for personnel, Department of the Army.
The Defense Information School's Mass Communication Foundations course is now in its pilot phase. A multi-service, multiple platform course, the MCF combines disciplines currently taught in more than a dozen DINFOS courses, and is designed to increase content creation capabilities for graduates across the Department of Defense.
