CD cover, Muddy Waters – The Complete Plantation Recordings contains all the Muddy Waters sides recorded by Alan Lomax at Stovall Farms in 1941-42. “In 1941, the great musicologist Alan Lomax appeared at Muddy’s shack in Stovall, Mississippi, to record him. Two test pressings and a check for $20 arrived in the mail sometime later.
1980s reissue: black and white redesigned cover is glossy, on a thin cardboard. Compared to a similar looking pressing, the gold labels on this variant have had the "PASADENA, CALIFORNIA" removed, and have added "Special Re-Release by OJL". This pressing recycles old Wakefield lacquers (SJW-7721) via metal parts made from them by Greg Lee Processing (L-18623).
