Rockford West High School (sometimes referred to as West) was a 9 through 12 grade high school of Rockford Public School District 205 in Rockford, Illinois. Opened in 1940 to replace Rockford High School, West opened simultaneous to Rockford East to serve the quickly expanding population.

Dating back to 1885, Rockford’s athletics and extra-curriculars have always been among the best in the state.
Welcome to our Class Website! During the years 1956 through 1959 a group of more than five hundred teenagers from the west side of the city of Rockford Illinois came together to acquire a high school education.
Year Inducted: 1974. Category: Teams. Schools / Organizations: Rockford West High School. Biography: At the time of their title, the 1956 West Rockford team was the tallest team to win the state championship. This highly polished and well coached team swept through the season with a 28-1 record.

Biography: West Rockford, coached by the crafty Alex Saudargas (IBCA Hall of Famer-1973), won their first of back-to-back state titles in 1955. This great ball club was one of the first “big” teams to with the state title, led by their front line of Gentry and Wessells.
