My love for Kenny Burrell's guitar playing is what led me to this album. But now that I've listened to it, I've become a serious Jimmy Heath fan. This is a GREAT album, with some wonderful playing by everyone involved. Heath's playing on this recording reminds me a lot of Coltrane, or at least Coltrane's sound from the late 50s.

10 de dic. de 2006 · While Heath is certainly in all-star company for this date, the album is a looser affair than his earlier efforts that showcased Heath's amazing arrangements, which usually made three horns sound like twice that number. "On The Trail" is still an excellent disc, and trailblazers should act quickly as this is a limited edition title.
