The videos he developed to promote these songs were impossible to ignore, with imagery and characters that seemed ripped from the pages of comic books.

Gowan joined Styx in 1999, replacing founding member Dennis DeYoung. He has since released two albums with the band, Cyclorama (2003) and Big Bang Theory (2005). Gowan has been married to his wife, Laura, since 1985. They have two children, a son and a daughter. He currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
