The Look made the Top Ten in England (# 7) and the Top Forty in the USA (# 38), while it didn't reach the charts here in Germany (like any other Shalamar album or single), although I'm sure they were played quite regularly in the dance clubs. Today I like this music more than back when I was young.
The Look is the seventh album by American R&B group Shalamar, released in 1983 on the SOLAR label. It is the last Shalamar album to feature the classic line-up of Jeffrey Daniel, Howard Hewett and Jody Watley, as both Daniel and Watley would leave the group shortly before its release. And that was because there was some serious tension within the group, mainly between Jody Watley and Howard Hewett. Despite all the behind-the-scenes drama with Shalamar, they were still able to put out a quality album.The Look was a mixture of R&B soul ballads, pop jams, and electro-funk.
