21 de oct. de 2006 · Devoted fans of "Red" Prysock, who passed away from a heart attack at age 67 on July 19, 1993, will tell you that his most memorable cuts include Battle Of The Mass while with Tiny Grimes & His Rocking Highlanders in which he is part of a legendary saxophone "battle" with Benny Golson, and his own Hand Clappin' which came out in 1955.
Red Prysock, despite never scoring a hit, isn’t one of those who’ve been obliterated from the history books, even if he’s not necessarily a familiar name to the broader populace. But among rock aficionados of this era, Prysock still has a strong reputation… helped by the fact that raucous sax instrumentals as a whole remain fairly enduring when looking back on the era in question.
Red Prysock He later played with Tiny Grimes and Tiny Bradshaw before forming his own band in 1953, recording for Red Robin then signing with Mercury, where he made a string of storming rock'n'roll instrumentals in the mid-Fifties, including the frantic 'Foot Stomping' which cul-minated in an archetypal honking single-note climax.
