Hace 6 días · A Letterboxd acquaintance of mine summed up Hal Ashby’s 1978 drama Coming Home by saying “Jane Fonda and Jon Voight spend the movie getting together while everyone else commits suicide.”While that may not be altogether inaccurate, it’s a rather dismissive approach to what is a tenderly raw but appropriately rough look at the plight of neglected vets back from the Vietnam War.
Hal Ashby is so great, i had the exact same experience last month re having seen Harold and Maude then watching Shampoo and TLD. I hear good things about Being There, planning to watch that next. i also love Alexander Payne and see a lot of parallels between the two directors
