Matching Mole was Robert Wyatt's own band he formed with some of his old Canterbury fellow musicians after he left Soft Machine. The original album was a good start, forging a direction that was more electronic, more challenging melodically, and also included humour, but soiunded a bit flat as the band was still finding its feet (the follow-up was much tighter and felt like a band in its swing).
