ALL Bennington MFA students who demonstrate need as determined by the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan Program receive financial aid. Following are the various forms of financial assistance Bennington College awards to Master of Fine Art in Writing students. The federal student loan is the primary loan resource for most graduate students.
Poetry at Bennington showcases the range and vitality of contemporary poetic voices with an emphasis on cultural and aesthetic diversity. Since 2012, over 90 poets have visited, including multiple Poets Laureate, winners of the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize, and MacArthur Foundation Fellows, along with emerging writers who have received considerable acclaim.

Freshmen pay a one-time enrollment fee of $500. Residing at the Vermont campus’ housing like Woolley Hall adds $8,800 for yearly rent.
Students are required to complete four to five packet mailings per term. The due dates for these packets are set by the teacher and equally spaced—approximately one per month—throughout each term. The packets will consist of written responses to readings (2-3 pages each) and a comprehensive amount of creative work in the genre.
