  3. 2049 The Lifespan Edit. Trims lenght by 20 minutes while keeping 95% of the same scenes (the only scene actually removed was Wallace’s first scene). I probably will do a fan edit of this later next year which is also a sequel to my original Blade Runner's fan edit. I do think after 4 watches that the film has problems.

  4. I love them both for different reasons. I think 2049 makes the original better, and 2049 is done great favors by the existence of the original, if that makes sense. I won't tell you which I think is better, but I honestly believe that if you're a fan of the original, you are going to like 2049. A lot happens in the intervening years.

  5. Now I loved 2049. And I’ve been a big fan of Villeneuve’s work. Absolutely cannot wait and see Dune. But to say 2049 was better than the original Blade Runner, a film that changed the landscape of the entire sci fi genre and was decades ahead of its time, is just downright naive. You can be excited.

  6. It wasn't the slow pace that bothered me. I love a slow burn and I'm about as close to an expert on the original outside of people directly involved with it, but I was underwhelmed with 2049. I liked it, but it was missing the feel and pacing of the original, even though everyone said it captured the atmosphere of the original perfectly.
