29 de ago. de 2006 · Senior Member. The symbol that is the opposite of a slash (or /) or stroke, in French, to my knowledge, is referred to as 'anti -slash', on the basis of the English word 'slash'. The symbol is: \. However, 'anti-slash' is not, to the best of my knowledge, used in English; I believe the English term is 'reverse slash'.
Position in the Keyboard. Slash (or Forward Slash) is positioned together with “Question Mark” on the keyboard. Apart from that, you can also find a dedicated button in the numeric pad. On the other hand, Backward Slash appears one time and is positioned right above the “Enter” key.

The biggest difference between slashes and backslashes—at least when it comes to English grammar—is that the slash is a punctuation mark in the English language while the backslash is not. The right way depends on it's use. For a path to a local file on a windows machine, use backslash. For a path to a web resource or file located on a UNIX based machine (includes Macs, Linux), use a slash. The reason .NET's URI uses forward slashes is because it's formatting for use in a webbrowser.
