Richard Lynn Carpenter (fødd 15. oktober 1946) er ein USA-amerikansk popmusikar, mest kjend som eine halvdelen i syskenduoen the Carpenters, i lag med systera Karen Carpenter. Han var plateprodusent, arrangør, pianist, klaverspelar, stundom tekstforfattar og komponist, i tillegg til at han song harmonivokal med Karen.
