The late-introduction 1986 GT used flying buttresses inset with glass to increase rear quarter visibility; due to the car's space-frame design, this roofline was a simple bolt-on change that also brought a fresh neutral-density taillamp design.

The 2006 model year marked the debut of the Pontiac Solstice, a two-seat roadster designed to compete with the Mazda MX-5 Miata.Unfortunately, it seems like no one at General Motors had ever driven a Miata, and the poorly executed Solstice only lasted through the 2010 model year.
