21 de dic. de 2006 · THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE DTS 5.1 CD VERSION OF SANTANA'S ABRAXAS ALBUM. Back in 1970 I was one of those stereo guys who bought the latest 4 channel SQ Quadraphonic equipment. One of the first Quad vinyl albums I got was Santana's ABRAXAS. The 4 channel Quad re-mix was fantastic. Wind and cymbals swirling around the room.

Go and get the album on vinyl if you can. It is a sublime and extraordinary album that features songs like Oye Cómo Va and Black Magic Woman (a Fleetwood Mac cover).

The year 1970 turned out to be the Santana year: the Woodstock movie was a huge commercial success and it showcased an inspired and exciting Santana performance, the single Evil Ways from their eponymous debut LP became a #10 hit in the USA (it sold more than 2 million copies) and the new, eagerly awaited album entitled Abraxas peaked the USA Billboard Album Top 100 chart.
