Mike Love. Michael Edward Love (born March 15, 1941) is an American singer, songwriter and musician, and one of the founding members of the Beach Boys. Characterized by his nasal and sometimes baritone singing voice, Love has been a vocalist and lyricist for the band for most of their career, contributing to all of their studio albums.
“Mike Love is a jerk,” said John Lennon, memorably. One of Mike’s most obnoxious themes is his constant insistence that he and he alone represents the “positivity” of the band. He resents Brian’s struggles (which he calls “negativity”) where really, he fears Beach Boys hiatuses that might result in a smaller paycheck for Mike.
