These instructions pertain to the application process for Spring 2024 and Fall 2024. If you are applying for the Bachelor of Music degree, this is the only application you need to complete. Eastman has a separate application from the University of Rochester’s College of Arts, Sciences & Engineering, and does not use the Common Application.
Eastman’s student body includes approximately 25% international students, who come from 30 different countries including China, S. Korea, Hong Kong, Canada and from Europe and South America. International applicants are considered for admission and scholarship on the same basis as U.S. citizens.
Students applying for a bachelor of music degree will apply directly to the Eastman School of Music through their online application. Students applying for a dual degree (BM plus a BA or BS), will also need to submit an application to the College at the University of Rochester .

The School offers the degrees bachelor of music (BM), master of music (MM), master of arts (MA), doctor of musical arts (DMA), and doctor of philosophy (PHD). In addition, the performer’s certificate (PC) and the artist’s certificate (AC) both recognize outstanding performance ability.
Each year approximately 2,000 students apply (1,000 undergraduates and 1,000 graduates), with the acceptance rate being 13% in 2011. About 1,000 students (ranging in age from 16 years to over 80 years of age) are enrolled in the Eastman School's Community Music School.
