James Glimm has made deep and original contributions in a variety of areas in both pure and applied mathematics, including operator algebras, quantum field theory, statistical physics, partial differential equations and scientific computing.
James Glimm has made fundamental contributions to nonlinear analysis — winning the Amer. Math. Soc. Steele Prize — to quantum field theory — winning the American Physical Society Heineman Prize — and to computational fluid dynamics.
