Dave Dobbyn. Sir David Joseph Dobbyn KNZM (born 3 January 1957) is a New Zealand musician, singer–songwriter and record producer. In his early career he was a member of the rock group Th' Dudes and was the main creative force in pop band DD Smash. Since then he has released the majority of his recordings as a solo performer. Taking centre-stage with his next band DD Smash, Dobbyn made history when the debut album rocketed to No 1 in the first week of its release. As a solo artist his ‘Slice of Heaven’ spent eight weeks at No 1 in New Zealand, and four in Australia where he lived for 10 years until the early ‘90s.
