He first came to public attenton on the TV series Do not Adjust Your Set as vocalist of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - The "Bonzos" were an eclectic and peculiarly British mix of music hall, trad-jazz, psychedelic pop with a liberal sprinkling of surreal humour and avant-garde art.
