8 de ago. de 2018 · A tribute to Winston Ntshona. 8 August 2018 - Sarah Roberts. A pioneer of storytelling and activism in South Africa, Ntshona died on 2 August this year. A slim, well-thumbed paperback volume occupies a special place on my bookshelf. Its spine is torn and barely legible, but such is its familiarity that I can dispense with such necessities.

Born on 6 October 1941 in Port Elizabeth, matriculated from Newell High School where he performed in school plays with John Kani. During the 1960s Winston worked at the Ford Motor Company plant in Port Elizabeth. In 1967, Ntshona joined the Serpent Players drama group where he continued working with Kani and also collaborated with Athol Fugard .
