A British actor who was a contract star for British Lion in the 1950s, Britton starred in films such as The Birthday Present (1957) and Behind the Mask (1958). He was born in Birmingham, where he attended Edgbaston Collegiate School, and then Thornbury Grammar School, Gloucestershire. He joined an amateur dramatics group in Weston-super-Mare, at the age of 18.
