Eddie Levert was born June 16, 1942 in Bessemer, Alabama. At the age of 6 Eddie moved to Canton, Ohio where he attended church regularly and joined the church choir and began his musical journey. As Eddie continued singing into his teenage years he became a recognized voice in the church choir, sang in school plays and performed regularly on a gospel radio show.
Eddie is still with us!!! By any measure, the O'Jays are one of the most important Soul Music groups ever. Whether delivering funky dance music, romantic ballads, or thoughtful social commentary in song, The O'Jays are 100% all-time greats, and Eddie Levert is a one-of-a-kind voice who is still doing his thing beautifully at age 80.
